Katie Lynch Koglin (harp and voice) and Laura Smolowitz (flute) reprise their successful concert, The Harp of Rodgers and Hammerstein, as an alumni concert for the College Light Opera Company’s 50th Anniversary season. The concert was originally created as a 100th birthday concert for Katie’s harp, Magnolia! Magnolia was completed April 18, 1914 in Chicago, and was owned by Helen Rogers. Following a successful concert career, including touring with a big band, Helen became the harpist for Rodgers and Hammerstein’s South Pacific and The King and I on Broadway. All of the music in the program, from Rose-Marie’s “Indian Love Call” to Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel, have been played by Katie and Helen on this harp.
If you loved the original concert at CCftA, join us again for a slightly different version, or see it for the first time!!!
Katie’s been the primary harpist for CLOC since 1994 when she played South Pacific under Eric Whitacre.
